Another technique, new to him, which interested Sovak from 2004 onwards, is the digital reworking of photographs. In extreme enlargement and coarse-grained pixelation, Lopper, Pole, Champs de Champagne, or Pond reflect a wide variety of structures, such as bare trees in a wintry or foggy landscape, traces of machinery in fields, rows of plantings and geological formations, or reflections in water or filigree ripples on water surfaces. But these subtle works are at the same time profound reflections on vastness, freedom, infinity, where man is not given a place.
