Basis for later works

Even if paintings play a rather subordinate role in the oeuvre in terms of number, the first works in oil on canvas or hardboard, created between 1943 and 1947, form a basis for later drawings and graphics that should not be underestimated. Everything seems to be already present in these painted works, which reflect a fine as well as perfect sense for color gradients, color harmonies and contrasts as well as for line structures and geometric-architectural compositions.
